Selecting the right satellite image is crucial for the quality of the resulting application map. The satellite data of the selected date is used as the basis for calculating the zones and fertilisation proposals. A few points must therefore be taken into account.
Check the selected satellite image for veiling clouds, fog or possible cloud shadows. These disturbing factors cannot yet be recognised fully automatically. To do this, compare two consecutive images. If one of the images has a strong dark area or a white haze, select the image without these interfering factors. Proceed in the same way if an image appears faded.
When selecting the date, the following applies: Shortly before fertilisation. Therefore, select a satellite image that is not older than 3 weeks before fertilisation.
What can I do if it was always cloudy shortly before fertilisation? If you already had the same crop in previous years (at a similar time of cultivation and the same field division), you can also use satellite data from this year. The day/month should be roughly the same. Satellite data is available nationwide back to 2016.
